Speaking with Premier of the Government of Manitoba, Wab Kinew, on the first day of the Manitoba Aviation Conference by Manitoba Aviation Council, Strix CEO, Michel Dion, PMP, EMBA, shared his vision to have #INSAT funded projects in the province. L’événement spécial de DEL – Développement économique de l'agglomération de Longueuil s’est terminé la semaine dernière, et nous sommes ravis d’y avoir participé ! 🤝

La publication du SID renforce l'intérêt déjà élevé pour saisir les opportunités dans le secteur de la défense, et les conférenciers tout au long de la journée ont fourni des conseils pour soutenir les ambitions des participants.

✈️ Sur le thème des opportunités en défense, Julien Caudroit Van Cauwenberghe a présenté le mandat de Strix et le programme que nous soutenons : #INTAD. En présentant ce que nous avons à offrir, il a mis en avant les opportunités de multiplication de transactions RIT et nos projets en chiffres – comme le montant qui met à profit la technologie à double usage.

DEL – Développement économique de l'agglomération de Longueuil’s special event wrapped up last week, and we’re thrilled to have been part of it! 🤝

The release of the DIS is solidifying already-high interest in seizing defence opportunities, and speakers throughout the day had the guidance to support attendee’s ambitions.

✈️ On the theme of defence opportunities, Julien Caudroit Van Cauwenberghe explored Strix’s mandate and the program we power: #INSAT. Presenting what we have to offer, he highlighted ITB transaction multiplier opportunities and our projects by the numbers – such as the amount that leverage dual-use technology.

Yesterday, Julien Caudroit Van Cauwenberghe moderated a defence‑tech panel at Garage&co’s HIM hosted by EY. 💡

Fresh off the release of Canada’s Defence Industrial Strategy, the room was buzzing. Hardtech and deeptech companies interested in defence attended the event looking for insights on positioning themselves within the strategic window opened from the government’s build strong action.

👥 Panel speakers – Véronique Perrault (IQ), Dr. Ahmad Khorchid (DRDC), and Bachar Elzein (Reaction Dynamics) – drew on their experience to highlight how businesses can turn federal investments into concrete opportunities.

Following the release of Canada’s Defence Industrial Strategy (#DIS), Strix | 🍁 Aerospace Innovation Aérospatiale 🍁 was pleased to attend a secondary briefing hosted by the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal to hear expanded details from The Honourable Mélanie Joly.
 
This follow-up session provided additional clarity on the implementation path ahead – reinforcing the importance of integrating new small and medium-sized businesses in the ecosystem, coordinating industry-government collaboration, and sustaining investments for the long-term.

À la suite du dévoilement de la Stratégie industrielle de défense (#SID) du Canada, Strix | 🍁 Aerospace Innovation Aérospatiale 🍁 a eu l'honneur d’assister à une deuxième session d’information organisée par la Chambre de commerce du Montréal métropolitain afin d’entendre des précisions supplémentaires de la part de l’honorable Mélanie Joly.
 
Cette session de suivi a apporté plus de clarté quant à la direction de la mise en œuvre – réaffirmant l’importance d'intégrer de nouvelles petites et moyennes entreprises dans l'écosystème, de coordonner la collaboration entre l'industrie et le gouvernement, et de soutenir des investissements à long terme.

📢 Canada's #DefenceIndustrialStrategy: Strix | 🍁 Aerospace Innovation Aérospatiale 🍁 warmly welcomes this clear path for collaboration.

The Government of Canada has released the highlights of its new Defence Industrial Strategy (DIS). This strategy complements broader modernization efforts and includes a $6 billion investment over five years to strengthen the national defence industrial base.

For the aerospace and defense community, this increased focus will make a real difference in how we plan, invest, and collaborate. And for Strix, it directly supports the work we do every day: helping connect innovators to opportunities, supporting collaborative R&D, and advancing technologies, particularly dual-use technologies, that contribute to Canada's resilience and competitiveness.

We are delighted to see a framework aimed at strengthening national defence capabilities and focusing investment in areas where we are poised to play a leading role.

As a non-profit organization dedicated to innovation and collaborative research in the Canadian aerospace and defence sectors, we will work with our partners throughout the process of implementing this strategy. Our goal is to translate it into concrete programs and real capabilities for Canada.
